Prof. Salah Eddine Arkadan
Dean, BAYAN British College
Assalamu alaikum,
On behalf of the Board of Trustees and the Board of Academic Advisory of Bayan British Foundation for
Education and Development, I am pleased to welcome you to this introductory message, which we hope
marks the beginning of a fruitful and ongoing relationship.
Bayan Foundation for Education and Development is a promising educational initiative based in the city of
Sheffield in Northern England. Its vision is founded on a firm belief that sound Islamic education and
conscious upbringing are fundamental pillars in preparing a Muslim generation that is self-confident,
balanced, and capable of positively integrating into their societies, and Western societies in particular,
without compromising its identity or withdrawing from active engagement with its social and cultural
environment.
In light of the rapidly evolving challenges faced by Muslim communities in the West, there is a growing
need for educational institutions that possess the flexibility and competence required to understand the
demands of the present age, and to harness its tools in service of the Islamic mission. Such institutions
must also promote authentic educational values in an environment characterized by openness, dialogue,
and constructive integration.
In this context, the Colleges of Islamic and Arabic Studies and Education at Bayan Foundation were
established as a practical embodiment of this comprehensive vision. They aim to prepare qualified
academic and educational professionals through programs that blend intellectual depth with contemporary
relevance, all while focusing on building a better future for the coming generations. These programs
include undergraduate and postgraduate studies (Master’s and Ph.D.), as well as diploma programs and
specialized training courses for part-time learners.
In order to broaden the reach of its educational services, Bayan Foundation adopts a hybrid model of in-
person and distance learning. In-person education offers opportunities for direct interaction and positive
engagement between teacher and student on both academic and personal levels. Meanwhile, distance
learning helps overcome geographical, financial, and procedural barriers, allowing access to a distinguished
network of scholars within the UK and internationally. It also provides learners with flexible educational
opportunities tailored to their diverse circumstances. This dual model has become a widely accepted and
proven approach in contemporary educational systems.
Our operational plan is to commence instruction at the beginning of the 2025–2026 academic year, God
willing. We ask Allah, the Almighty, to bless these efforts and to grant us collective success in achieving our
shared goal: the development of a conscious, active, and impactful Muslim community.
